Do not be mislead by the hype and false information about calcium supplements, especially coral calcium, which you hear about everywhere. Coral Calcium is being promoted as a superior calcium supplement when just the exact opposite is true. Coral rock consists of calcium carbonate, a very poor quality of calcium used in cheap supplements. Absorption of coral calcium is as low as 22%. Even the FDA is on the company promoting false claims about what it will do. Research presented before the National Osteoporosis Foundation last year showed that calcium carbonate, which is coral calcium, can block the absorption of phosphorus which is vital to bone health. Dr. Robert P. Heaney, a principal scientist at Creighton University’s Osteoporosis Research Center tells us that calcium and phosphorus are equally important to your bones, so you must have both of these minerals including magnesium.
